PDF to DXF Converter: Scanned and Vector Drawings
Convert one selected page from a PDF up to 2 MB into an editable DXF draft. Preview the result, review extracted text and traced geometry, then calibrate the drawing scale in CAD. Both scanned and vector PDFs need checking against the original.
How to convert a PDF to DXF online
- Open the free converter and select a PDF up to 2 MB.
- Confirm you have permission to use the drawing and agree to the stated file handling.
- Preview the PDF and enter the page number you want. Each conversion processes one page.
- Start the conversion, compare the output preview with the source and download the DXF.
- Open the DXF in your CAD software. Check text, geometry and scale before editing or reuse.
What happens to scanned and vector PDFs?
A scanned PDF usually contains an image of a drawing. A vector PDF can contain paths and text. This converter first attempts to extract readable horizontal native text, then applies OCR to remaining image text and fits regular geometry from a rendered page. Unresolved areas can remain outlines. The result is a DXF draft for review. It does not restore the original CAD file, its original layers or associative dimension objects. Check that important lines, labels and symbols survived conversion, even when the PDF looks sharp on screen. No independently validated original-PDF example is published in this guide.
Why PDF millimetres still need scale calibration
PDF output coordinates represent paper millimetres. A printed scale such as 1:50 means paper size and real-world size differ. In your CAD software, use a trustworthy dimension from the source to calibrate the result, then check another dimension, preferably along the other axis. A millimetre unit setting alone does not establish engineering accuracy.
What to review in the converted DXF
Compare labels, numbers, decimal points and symbols with the PDF. Inspect gaps, duplicate edges, curves and intersecting lines. Measure known dimensions after calibration, and inspect the downloaded file in the CAD application where you will edit it. For an interior floor plan, you can start a separate Interior Editor Beta project from the original PNG, JPG or PDF. Interior Editor cannot import this downloaded DXF yet.
PDF conversion limits
One selected page is processed per conversion. The file limit is 2 MB for guests and signed-in users. Encrypted, damaged or overly complex PDFs may fail conversion. Text recognition and fitted geometry depend on the source; review both before relying on the output.

The free tool accepts PNG, JPG/JPEG and PDF files up to 2 MB for guests or 2 MB for signed-in users, processing one selected PDF page per conversion. Guests get 1 conversion per IP per day; signed-in accounts get 3. Allowances reset at 00:00 China Standard Time (UTC+8); failed jobs return the allowance. Network abuse-prevention limits also apply.
Online source files, results and previews are deleted 30 minutes after task creation. Private review copies are deleted after 48 hours. Download and keep your own copy in time.
