How do I turn an old blueprint into editable DXF?
Scan or photograph the blueprint and save it as PNG, JPG or PDF up to 1 MB. The tool fits lines, circles and arcs from the rendered page and recognizes clear text; unresolved parts stay as outlines. Fading, stains and creases on old blueprints reduce quality.
What about blue or low-contrast backgrounds?
Low contrast directly affects outline extraction. Improve scan sharpness and contrast first, and use a flat, straight-on, evenly lit scan. The better the separation between background and lines, the cleaner the result; colour is not carried into DXF.
How are floor plan scale and units handled?
Image-to-DXF output uses source pixels and PDF uses paper millimetres; neither equals the real size automatically. Use a trustworthy known dimension (grid spacing, door width) to calculate the scale factor, then verify with a second independent dimension. Confirm the scale bar and annotation numbers separately.
What should I check after vectorization?
Check wall continuity, openings, text and annotations, layers and units. Free output is an outline for review and does not restore architectural semantics, layer conventions or manufacturing accuracy. For layer cleanup, dimensions or editable text, request a refinement assessment quoted per drawing.
The free tool accepts PNG, JPG/JPEG and PDF files up to 1 MB, processing one selected PDF page per conversion. Guests get 1 conversion per IP per day; signed-in accounts get 3. Allowances reset at 00:00 China Standard Time (UTC+8); failed jobs return the allowance. Network abuse-prevention limits also apply.
Online source files, results and previews are deleted 30 minutes after task creation. Private review copies are deleted after 48 hours. Download and keep your own copy in time.
